Senior Java Architect / Team Lead Engineer
Description:
You will be responsible for building cutting-edge web-based Java applications. We need someone with a top-to-bottom understanding of both the Web and Java. Your responsibility will be to design and develop software as well as to lead and mentor junior software developers.
Requirements:
- BA/BS in computer science, information systems, or related degree.
- Deep (5+ years) experience with object-oriented design patterns and Java application development.
- Strong background working with open-source frameworks and technologies.
- Experience with building commercial web-based services.
- Experience with building highly-scalable, server-side components.
- Experienced with the full development lifecycle, capable of designing, implementing, and delivering major functionality.
- Significant experience with Linux and MySQL.
- Thorough knowledge of internet protocols and networking.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Tomcat and Apache web servers.
- Experience with the Spring framework, particularly its MVC, transaction abstraction, and data access components.
- Experience with SOAP, XML-RPC, or JSON.
- Experience with HTML/CSS DHTML/JavaScript AJAX technologies.
- Experience working with FreeMarker templates.
- Prior experience with agile software development methodologies such as Extreme Programming.
- Prior success with rapid development projects working with a small, self-directed team.
Web User Interface Designer / Engineer
Description:
You will be responsible for designing and developing the user-facing aspects of our service. We’re looking for someone who will work closely with our product and engineering teams to ensure our products provide an excellent user experience. This is a great opportunity to have major influence over all design aspects of Boxbe’s applications.
Requirements:
- BA/BS in computer science, information systems, or related degree.
- Strong background in user interaction design for web-based applications.
- Experience with designing and implementing commercial web sites.
- Deep (5+ years) knowledge of HTML/CSS technologies.
- Expert AJAX experience with designing modular, object-oriented JavaScript.
- Able to deliver a consistent user experience via multiple web browsers.
- Thorough experience with producing wireframes and/or semi-functional prototypes prior to implementation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Nice to Have:
- Significant development experience with Java.
- Proficiency with creating visual design elements using Photoshop.
- Experience with designing desktop application user interfaces.
- Experience with writing FreeMarker templates.
- Prior success with rapid development projects working with a small, self-directed team.
